The significance of the story is the timelessness of the painful issues three very different women faced nearly a century ago. Reading this story, I felt I’d stepped back time, riding on a train bound for the Middle East. The writing is excellent, the characters engaging and developed, the mysteries subtle and intriguing, and the historical period and the settings expertly drawn.

The characters drew me into the story, and I found myself reading every chance I could spare. Woman on the Orient Express is a quiet book that captured my imagination.

So, when I saw this title, I had to give it a try. I love mysteries and puzzling out who the murderer is. When I was a teen, I discovered Christie’s mysteries and systematically read through all her books. It’s a little bit of fact mixed with a fiction story loosely based on events in Agatha Christie’s life. I’m straying from my usual science fiction and fantasy book reviews to tell you how much I love this book. Lindsay Jayne Ashford’s Woman on the Orient Express captured my heart.
